Striker Nathan Delfouneso was regarded as one of the young and upcoming exciting prospects at Aston Villa, but his career has gone off the rails in recent years and he is right now playing on loan at Coventry City. This is the third division club in England right now. It is widely expected that Villa will not offer him a new contract and will sell him in the summer if they do not see the striker making a lot of progress at Coventry. He still has four weeks left on his loan deal with the League One club.
Ahead of the climax, manager Steven Pressley has stated that the striker should consider making the most out of the time he has at Coventry. After just two wins in the last five matches, Coventry are in the mid-table of the League One with any hopes of promotion ending several weeks ago. They are also unlikely to get into relegation trouble in the remaining few weeks of the campaign. The 23-year-old striker still has a long time left in football, but he needs to find the back of the net on a more regular basis in order to be considered as an Aston Villa striker.
Pressley says that he has never doubted the ability of the striker, but he needs to start performing on the pitch more often than not.
“It’s a pivotal time for him and a time when he has to grasp the opportunity and show that mentality and hunger to prove people wrong. He has four weeks to prove to us at this football club that he’s a consideration for next season. That’s what he’s got, four weeks, not just to prove to us but to any other potential suitors that he’s a capable striker for next season,” said the Coventry City manager.
